davy and noah millard are the brothers behind the business venture ‘rogutore‘. rogutore is a japanese neologism that combines the words ‘rogue’ and ‘trade’ in japanese; it expresses the millards’ belief that “people must be individuals, but simultaneously also part of a larger network of people working together.” their belief has inspired an english-school–coffee-roaster assemblage in west tokyo. the school/roaster is the realization of roguture’s goal to provide top quality service while also producing community and family-oriented job opportunities for locals. i spent a couple days documenting their work.
